DEELYA was born from a simple observation: seated days are getting longer, but the seating itself often remains static. Our approach starts from there – keeping the chair, and bringing movement into seating.

To remember

• An observation from long days spent sitting
• A project born from two minds, combining office experience and a well-being perspective
• Trials conducted with classic chairs, more comfortable models, and an exercise ball
• A chosen idea: keep the chair, but make the seating less static
• A simple, adjustable object, designed to integrate into everyday life

– The starting point

A day spent sitting is measured in hours. What happens during those hours cannot be made up in the evening. DEELYA started from a need: between standing all the time and staying still, there had to be an intermediate state. A state where you remain seated without being frozen.

– Two experiences

DEELYA is a French brand. It was born from a long observation, both personal and of others: not all seated days are experienced in the same way.

Séverine, 50, founded several companies in e-commerce and wellness. Years in the office for her. And just as many years hearing, from the wellness side, what customers said about their seated days.
Camille, 25, developed her first professional habits while teleworking, on a classic chair.

Two contexts, one common question: how can we better experience the hours spent sitting?

– What we tried

A standard office chair, then a model designed for lasting comfort. Then, an exercise ball.

Very quickly, the ball cohabited with the chair. Then it ended up pushed into a corner. The fatigue returned. So did the discomfort. A whole day on an unstable seat is demanding. The chair, however, was always there.

– What we ruled out

The first idea: adding an ergonomic chair to the market. Many have already worked on seating comfort. Our question was more about movement: what happens to it when you spend eight hours in the same chair?

The second: creating a show-stopping object. That's not our style. We wanted a sober, fair object that you could rely on for the long term.

– The idea that prevailed

The idea didn't come all at once. It matured through trials. And one day, the question turned on its head: how to keep the chair, and introduce the movement we had gone looking for elsewhere? It was this question that gave meaning to the project.

– Today

DEELYA is taking shape on a human scale, with European partners.

On our scale, the details that matter are not delegated.
The work was done in detail: dozens of fabric samples before making a selection, a handle revised until it became almost invisible, a wider diameter chosen to adapt to different body shapes.
Textile manufacturing follows this same logic: a piece sewn by hand, in Portugal, by seamstresses specialized in upholstery, so that the object remains perfect down to its finishes.

The rest is about manufacturing.

An approach truly takes shape when it becomes an object: in the chosen materials, selected workshops, and details adjusted throughout the design process.
